Setting up your Trezor hardware wallet through Trezor.io/start is the safest way to begin protecting your crypto. This guide walks you through each step, helping you get started quickly and securely.
A Trezor Model One or Trezor Model T
A computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
USB cable
A stable internet connection
Open your browser and go to Trezor.io/start.
Select your Trezor model, and you will be guided to install the official Trezor Suite app, available for both desktop and web use. This app is where you’ll manage all your crypto activities.
Click Download Trezor Suite and install it.
Trezor Suite lets you:
Check balances
Send/receive crypto
Manage accounts
Adjust security settings
Purchase or exchange crypto directly
After installation, open the app.
Plug your Trezor wallet into your computer using the USB cable.
You’ll see a prompt in Trezor Suite to connect and begin setup. Click Begin setup, then follow the on-screen instructions.
New Trezor devices come without firmware for security reasons.
Click Install Firmware.
Once complete, your device will reboot and display a message indicating successful installation.
Choose Create New Wallet.
Trezor will generate a secure, offline wallet for your cryptocurrencies.
Then choose:
Standard seed phrase
or
Shamir Backup (enhanced multi-share recovery option on Model T)
Your device will display a 12-word or 24-word recovery seed.
⚠️ Very Important:
Write every word on the paper recovery card.
Keep it offline and hidden.
Never take photos or store it on your phone/computer.
Anyone with this seed can access your crypto.
Choose a strong PIN (minimum 4–6 digits).
This protects your device in case someone gets physical access to it.
Inside Trezor Suite, click Add Account to manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other supported coins.

Receive crypto by sharing your receive address
Send crypto securely
Monitor your portfolio
Adjust privacy settings
